Checking Out Google Buzz

Just got finished setting up my Google Buzz account and profile.  I have to say it’s a very nice interface.  The real-time stream updates are great and the friend discovery and site import is awesome.  Could be a really neat Social Media tool.

Interesting.  Not that I need another social media platform, but the integration with Gmail is definitely a nice touch.

Wow, just goes to show how behind the times we are here in the US.  As an Engineer, it is so obvious that the metric system is superior.

Good un-biased article about the iPad.

These two apps look sweet for simple, easy to use, synchronized text notes.  Checking them both out now.  Will this replace Evernote for me as my preferred note-taking app?  Only time will tell.

Great article highlighting the new way in which the iPad will handle files, folders, and the file system in general.  I especially like the idea that a user can choose to share a specific app’s documents wireless with their desktop.  This makes data retention, backup, and synchronization between multiple devices much easier, especially for developers like me.

I’m excited about the iPad, but I do have to agree with this article that there are some key things missing from the hardware.  Two biggest things for me are:

  • No camera - definitely would have liked to see video conferencing.
  • No multitasking - if this is truly going to be a netbook/laptop replacement, how can they not support multiple tasks running at once?

What are your thoughts on the new device?
